My Why

Most people I speak with ask, "How did you get into this?"

The "3 Day Challenge" that changed my life

This was me. Mom, Wife, Student, Teacher, Friend: 5'7" 220 pounds. Looking at the pictures, you don't see my story. Not SUPER heavy, big boned, maybe? Definitely not petite. I figured my size was just a part of who I was. I smoked a pack (give or take) of Camels every day, for almost 20 years. I didn't (couldn't) exercise, I ate what was convenient & fast, or made with love (and lots of butter) in my kitchen. My average sleep cycle was 4-6 hours due to the chronic congestion with cough, heartburn, and pain in my hips.  I knew I wasn't functioning at an optimal - or even good - level, but my energy levels were so low that I couldn't wrap my head around doing anything more. It took everything I had, every day, to accomplish the necessities: getting the kids going, getting to work, maintaining my house (kind-of), and doing school.  Weekends were full of chores, family obligations, homework, and self-medicating/ numbing activities - usually involving too many cocktails, a hangover, and chain-smoking.  I was miserable. Unhappy with my self, my health, my choices, my job, and where my life was headed.

Spring Break 2010

We all know someone (or maybe WE are the one) that lives and breathes up-and-coming trends. Beauty, technology, diets, fashion, makeup, or all of the above. One of my closest friends lived in Southern California; she was the trend-master! My connection to anything new always started with her, and she was ALWAYS after me to make healthier (trend-based) choices. I loved her for this, but some of the stuff she suggested was "crazy".   For Spring Break 2010, I took my kids and flew south to spend some time with her. Mostly to escape the reality of the day-to-day life I lived.  We put our toes in the sand, enjoyed the beach, drank too much, and I listened to all of her new ideas. During one of our morning outings, she stopped at a little place with a "Vibration Studio" sign in front.  I rolled my eyes at her as she told me how great my ass was going to look after using this vibrating machine. She saw it on some day-time TV talk show, and was absolutely convinced it was the answer to all problems.

Reluctantly, I followed her into the Vibration Studio. It was beautifully decorated, and we were greeted by a couple of very pleasant women. They told me about their 3 day trial, 10 minutes on the machine each day - for 3 days in a row; how it was no cost; and the process of getting started. Document my weight? Measure my body? WHAT?!?

New Life

My objections were met with sideways glares from my friend, who was already standing on a machine - shaking - ALL OVER. * Not quite the same as "the old belt thing". *  Truth be told, the only reason I agreed to participate was the promise of lunch & margaritas when we were finished.  I never believed anything would happen, other than I was brutally aware of all of the places shaking around.  That night, I slept for 7 hours without getting up. (It had to be the picture of margaritas!) After the 2nd visit to the Vibration Studio, my hips weren't as stiff. (Must be the ocean air & beach walks). We made one last stop on the way to the airport. When I finished the 3rd session, I was remeasured.  I had lost 5 pounds, and reduced my size by 7 inches! *Mind Blown*

The woman completing the paperwork for  the trial explained that my loss was probably due to the lymphatic stimulation, and was more-than-likely water & waste. This didn't matter! I was hooked, Did you read the measurements?!? FIVE pounds & SEVEN inches! I felt like I was needing more knowledge - asking "Why is this not available EVERYWHERE?!?" People need to know there are simple options! The flight home that day provided me with some processing time to try and understand what had happened on that machine.

Mission

Once I was back home, I started digging into anything I could find on-line regarding vibration machines. The more I discovered (obsessed over): the research I read, the videos I watched, the other studios I found, and the phone calls I made - solidified my idea that I needed to open a studio here, and bring this magic to the community. I wanted to continue using the machines, but the closest place was 45 minutes away, on a good day.

I was ready for a change. The switch had been flipped, I had found my calling! I was going to share vibration with the world! With the support of my social circle, I created a business plan, bought 5 whole body vibration units, and began looking for a location. I quit my job, and  I didn’t know how I was going to make it work financially, or if the leap of faith (some called a crazy idea) I was taking would be successful. During the months of creating the business, I was using one of the Vibration units at home. Over the course of the first 10 months, I lost 70 lbs. No change in diet or exercise; just standing on the machine for 10 minutes every day (because that is what the instruction manual suggested). I was sleeping, I had LOTS of energy, the pain in my hips was pretty much gone, and I no longer suffered from heartburn.  The desire to numb through excessive drinking had dissipated, and I had cut back the nicotine habit to only a couple per week.  This is me now.

Pro Vitae

I was feeling great, I had a strong sense of purpose, and I was more comfortable in my skin than I had been since I was in high school.  Being able to share my journey and teach others about vibration was a dream come true.  I opened Pro Vitae Vibration Studio July of 2012.  I have spent the past eight years using, exploring, teaching, and writing about Vibration Therapy.  The business has evolved from one location, to multiple collaborations. Education, studio services, machine sales, and business growth consulting. I NEVER would have imagined the trip I took for Spring Break would turn my life into the amazing adventure it has become. If you click the picture to the left, there is a link to an informational video we released a few years ago. Thank you for joining me, and wanting to learn more. The Vibration Revolution is growing. Welcome to Pro Vitae!  Be Healthy. Be Balanced. Be Vibrant.   ~Misty

Transition

Change is inevitable - Growth is optional

July 5, 2017

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.
